There is a white lighthouse (Hirakubozaki lighthouse), which looks even more beautiful with the contrast between the reef and the blue sky. This lighthouse is a place where you can see both the sunrise and the sunset. Sightseeing in Hirakubo Peninsula takes about 30 minutes. There is nothing around it other than the lighthouse. There is a beach in the Hirano village, which is about 30 minutes walk from the lighthouse. However, it is not recommended to swim because there are no facilities such as showers. Sunset beach is recommended for swimming in the sea in the northern part of Ishigaki Island.

Hirakubozaki lighthouse is located in the northern part of Ishigaki Island. It is about 80 minutes by car from the city center (around Bus Terminal or Ishigaki Port) and about 50 minutes from Ishigaki Airport. You can get to Hirakubozaki lighthouse by route bus, rental car or taxi. However, this is a tourist attraction that is inconvenient to reach by bus. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the nearest bus stop to the lighthouse, and there are only 3 buses a day.

Go to Hirakubozaki lighthouse by route bus (Azuma Bus)

It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the lighthouse even from there. However, the return bus time is enough time to walk from the bus stop to the lighthouse, then enjoy the scenery and walk back to the bus stop.

The bus fare to Hirakubozaki lighthouse is 980 yen one way even from the airport, so it is better to buy a one-day Bus Pass (1,000 yen) for those who make a round trip by bus. How to take the bus

When you go to Hirakubozaki Lighthouse by bus, how to take the bus is different from other places. When you get on the bus, tell the bus driver, “I want to go to Hirakubozaki Lighthouse”. You can get off the bus at the nearest place from the lighthouse (Not a bus stop). It takes about 20 minutes on foot from there to lighthouse. When you return, you can take the return bus from where you got off the bus (Not a bus stop). When the bus comes, please raise your hand and stop the bus.

There is no taxi stand at Hirakubozaki lighthouse. Even if you call a taxi, you will have to wait about 50 minutes because it comes from the airport. Therefore, if you plan to take a taxi to get there and come back, you should keep the taxi waiting while you are sightseeing. There is no traffic light on the way from the airport to Hirakubozaki lighthouse. Therefore, please be careful not to exceed the speed limit.
