A village with a traditional landscape
This beautiful village is the most famous tourist attraction on Taketomi Island. The village is located almost in the center of the island, about a 15 minutes walk from Taketomi Port.
This village is famous for its scenery of traditional Okinawan houses with red roofs. There are no modern buildings in the village of the island, the buildings are unified with traditional red roofs, and colorful flowers bloom along the white sand road made of coral fragments.
Many visitors to Taketomi Island take a buffalo tour to see the beautiful village.
The photo above was taken from the Nagomi Tower.
In addition, there is a unique “Shisa” on the roof of the house in that area. It’s fun to take a walk while paying attention to things like this.

It is shallow and there are no waves, so even small children can swim safely. There are also showers and toilets, so you can swim in the sea.
