Ishigaki half-day bus sightseeing recommended route

We’ve put together a plan for visiting the top tourist spots on Ishigaki Island using the local Azuma Bus, which operates throughout the island. This itinerary is designed for those arriving on Ishigaki Island around noon, allowing you to start your sightseeing adventure right from Ishigaki Airport by taking the Azuma Bus.

1. Buy a Bus Pass from the bus driver

This Bus Pass is a must-have for traveling around Ishigaki Island. It offers great value, so be sure to purchase it before boarding.

Please note that there isn’t a ticket office at Ishigaki Airport, but you can buy a Bus Pass directly from the driver when you board.
2. To Tamatorizaki Observatory
Route No.6

get off 「Tamatorizaki」 (0:16pm)

First, take the Route No. 6 bus to Tamatorizaki Observatory.
From the observatory, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of Ishigaki Island’s stunning ocean. It’s a popular tourist spot where vibrant flowers bloom year-round, and the sea breeze is refreshing.

3. Lunch at Tamatorizaki

Consider having lunch at Tamatorizaki. There are several restaurants near the Tamatorizaki Observatory where you can enjoy a meal.
4. Return to the airport for a transfer

Take the Route No. 6 bus back to the airport.
Once at the airport, transfer to a different bus route.
5. To Yaeyama Palm Grove
Route No.11

get off 「Yonehara Palm tree」（3:22pm）

You take the route No.11 bus to Yaeyama Palm Grove.
This is a popular photo spot on Ishigaki Island, often featured on Instagram. The Yaeyama Palm trees, native to Ishigaki and Iriomote Islands, offer a glimpse of the southern island jungle.

6. To the Bus Terminal for transfer

You will be taken to the bus terminal to transfer to another bus line.
7. To Fusaki Beach, a sunset spot
Route No.9

get off 「Fusaki Beach Resort」（6:32pm）

You take the Route No. 9 bus to Fusaki Beach, a popular sunset spot.
Fusaki Beach is located in front of the Fusaki Beach Resort Hotel and is open to the public, even if you’re not a guest.
The beach features Angel Pier, whose silhouette is especially striking against the sunset.

8. To Bus Terminal

get off 「Bus Terminal」（8:00pm）
Return to the Bus Terminal.
The area around the Bus Terminal is the city center of Ishigaki Island, and there are many restaurants.
It’s a great place to have dinner before heading to your hotel.

Even if you only take a half-day bus trip, don’t you think you can visit more tourist spots on Ishigaki Island than you expected?

There are two key points to this trip.
First, you’ll need to catch the bus departing from Ishigaki Airport at 11:52 AM. If you miss it, the next bus heading to the northern part of Ishigaki Island doesn’t leave until 4:00 PM, so plan your flight arrival accordingly.
Second, consider your baggage. Large luggage can be inconvenient on a bus trip, and there are no coin lockers at the island’s tourist spots. To solve this issue, you can use the Baggage Delivery Service mentioned here.
